StarCraft 2 Is Frying Graphics Cards
Bliizard has officially acknowledged that a StarCraft 2 bug might fry graphics cards.
The official Battle.Net support page explains that "screens that are light on detail may make your system overheat if cooling is overall insufficient. This is because the game has nothing to do so it is primarily just working on drawing the screen very quickly."
The bug is caused by the fact that StarCraft 2 has no frame rate limit. Fortunately, such a limit can be imposed fairly easy by adding the following lines to Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt file:

StarCraft II Launch Day Sales Numbers Revealed
Blizzard Entertainment today announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty achieved a day-one sales milestone of more than 1 million copies sold worldwide, making it the best-selling PC game of 2010 within its first 24 hours of availability. The game went on to sell a total of more than 1.5 million copies in its first 48 hours, setting the record for fastest-selling strategy game of all time.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty was released simultaneously in North America, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on July 27. More than 8,000 stores throughout the world opened their doors at midnight to celebrate the release, and Blizzard Entertainment developers were present at several locations to commemorate the event with players and sign copies of the game.
"We launched StarCraft II in 11 different languages and on 5 different continents because we wanted to make sure as many players as possible were able to log on and play on day one," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We're pleased that so many people around the world have already picked up a copy of the game, and we look forward to welcoming even more players to Battle.net® in the weeks and months ahead."
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is the sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's 1998 hit StarCraft, which has been hailed by players and critics worldwide as one of the top real-time strategy games of all time. Sporting a vibrant 3D-graphics engine, StarCraft II once again centers on the clash between the protoss, terrans, and zerg, with each side deploying legions of veteran, upgraded, and new unit types.
The solo campaign for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty continues the epic saga where it left off in StarCraft: Brood War. The story line chronicles the exploits of marshal-turned-rebel-leader Jim Raynor and features both familiar faces and new heroes. Players are able to tailor the experience, choosing their own mission path and selecting technology and research upgrades to suit their playing style throughout the 29-mission campaign. Several challenge-mode mini-games are also included, with focused goals designed to ease players into the basics of multiplayer strategies.

MrJack Joins the Blizzard Team
Today we are very proud to announce that our very own MrJack has moved on to bigger and better things. Unfortunately this means no more StarCraft 2 concepts from MrJack over here at StarCraft-Source. Instead we all will have to get our MrJack artwork fix from Blizzard's Official site. That's right - MrJack has been hired by Blizzard as a concept artist working on StarCraft 2!
It has been a long interview process but Blizzard's artists recognized MrJack's talents and have been scouting him for some time. MrJack actually has had his first week at Blizzard HQ this week and is loving it.
Feel free to congratulate MrJack in any of his SC2 or Diablo 3 artwork threads. I am sure he'll appreciate the support. I am sure this will really inspire a lot of up and coming artists to keep at your hard work, because sometimes it'll pay off in the end.
While MrJack can't participate in our community any longer, I suspect he'll be stopping by and lurking to see how things are going from time to time.
